My first driving lesson was on Monday morning and I felt really nervous. My driving lesson would be two hours long. My instructor was called George and he had a Vauxhall Corsa car. I sat in the car and George told me about the controls. I had only ever ridden a moped before so I didn't know what to expect. I put my foot on the gas and the car moved forwards. I found it incredibly difficult to control the steering wheel. young drivers like me pass the driving test in very little time with a driving lesson with such a great school of driving.

That night I dreamed that I had won a new car and I was driving it along the road towards Plymouth. With every driving lesson I knew that I would gain even more understanding of how to become a great driver. Each driving lesson cost me twenty pounds. I could afford it from my waitressing that I did every Saturday and Sunday.

After I had done my fifteenth lesson George said I should arrange to do my theory test. I went to do that in Plymouth and I found it really difficult. I was delighted to pass that with flying colours. I arranged the date for my practical driving test. Before that day I had seven more lessons. I felt confident that I would pass first time.

It was a cold wet day for my driving test on a Thursday afternoon in October. The examiner was a mean looking man of about fifty years old. I did fairly well apart from backing around a corner when I hit the kerb and bumped into a tree. I was so sad to fail that test. I booked another test for the middle of December but due to snow it had to be rolled to another date. The only available date was Christmas Eve. I didn't feel that would be a very happy way to begin the happiest time of the year.

So on Wednesday 24th December I went to the test centre. A tall lady of around thirty years old was going to test me. I got into George's car and did my very best to show the lady that I deserved to pass my test. I was delighted not to mess up backing around a corner. Town was really quiet because I was the first to be tested that day. I passed so that became my best Christmas ever. A driving lesson for two hours every week was the way I passed my driving test.
